Tēnā koutou ē te whānau,

We hope everyone is keeping safe and well in their whānau bubbles.

We are starting some preparation for when we do return to level 3 (if that be next week or later).

Level 3 means we are still at high risk and so the Ministry strongly recommends that tamariki learn from home wherever possible.

I have received guidelines from the Ministry of Education as to what is required in Level 3.

The first thing we need to do is ascertain who needs to return their tamariki to school in Level 3. This is still limited to tamariki of essential workers and those who HAVE to return to work as their employers require it and HAVE NO OTHER OPTION for childcare within their whānau bubbles. This means that if one parent is returning to work but another is home then the child stays home with that parent or with another whānau bubble.

The Ministry is advising that children at risk/with compromised immune systems remain at home at this stage.

Distance learning and hard copy learning packs will continue to be available to those who are able to remain at home.

It is also important to note that at Level 3, the buses will not be running, there will be no After-school Care, and tamariki would be required to bring their own lunch boxes. No playground equipment can be shared, children will have to be 2 metres apart in classes, they will have a mix of ages in their classes and have different learning spaces and teachers. They will be supported with the same on-line learning programme that the rest of their class are doing at home.

Please advise us through your child’s teacher or our school facebook page if you need your child to attend school at Level 3 for the reasons above only. It is important that we know what staffing we need and take staff safety into consideration as well.

Challenging times for us all but we can do this!
