Passion Week 2016

Term 2, Week 4

Kia Ora Whanau

This has been such an exciting week.  Everyone had so much fun being creative in our Art and Craft week.  I was focusing on creating different types of fishes using, paper, modelling clay, paint, crayon, dye, black sharpies and glitter.

The children made paper woven fishes on Monday. On Tuesday with Mrs Neale they made modelling clay fishes that had a magnet on the back, they designed  their own. Once they were dry they painted and added glitter sprinkles on top.

On Wednesday with me, we painted and dyed a under the sea mural, from the motivation of the Rainbow fish story. Their creation looked fantastic. On Thursday we made stuffed Rainbow fishes that were painted, applied with black sharpie, tinfoil and glitter also.

On Friday we completed our Rainbow fishes and made a fish bag, that we are going to put lollies into.

At our Assembly on Friday, all the classes shared what they had done during the week. Next week I will upload their photos to show you!!!

Thank you to all the junior children that were in my Passion week group. I had so much fun re-establishing relationships with children I don't normally teach or from Tamariki I have taught in previous years.

See you next week

PINK shirt day

Term 2, Week 3

Kia Ora Whanau

This has been an eventful week, I hurt my back so the children had Mrs Pearson relieving in Room 8. I heard from Mrs Smith all the Tamariki in room 8 were behaving with their best manners and showing Mrs Pearson lots of respect. Well done Room 8.

On Friday we had PINK shirt day. This was used to promote anti bullying, this is something we don't tolerate at KWS. We encourage using positive words and  I statements.  We incorporate our hurt free values into our daily teaching and learning by caring and supporting each other. Room 8 are fantastic how they support each other in and out of the classroom environment.

Welcome back to Term 2 2016

This is a really exciting term. Our Inquiry unit this term will be focused around cool schools. We will be learning about what conflict is and how to deal with it. We will be learning about I statements  and how to communicate our feelings in a positive way.

In week 4 we will be having Passion week , this is where your child will participate in a group that will cater to their passion and what exciting things they would like to be learning about.

Term 2 is important to everyone at Kaikohe West School and especially in room 8, because we have well established routines and expectations of each other and are ready to get down to the serious and fantastic business of learning and achieving together so continued learning happens!!!!!!!

Your valued support is really important to me and especially to your child as well. I have high expectations for your child to do well in their learning ,this will happen if we work together  and achieve success together.

Please continue to support your child as they bring home their reading book and listen to them read each night. Basic sight words  will be given to them next week also, these will be required to be practised as well ,to support their reading and writing.
Please visit our blog site and make comments on your children’s learning.http://kwsbirchall.blogspot.co.nz/

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
